The star Philippe Starck has recently signed for Driade two new products: Monseigneur and Moor (e). A masculine design by Monseigneur, which contrasts decisively with the November project: a king, a cardinal, a politician? However of France. The result is an aggressive line, albeit in a controlled manner, made of precious woods such as mahogany, of dry metals such as polished steel, especially of capitonné leather upholstery. Monseigneur is an asymmetrical sofa, a pouf, an armchair but above all a chair that, with its “ars combinatoria”, unquestionably arises as the emblem of the collection. And like Fabio Novembre also Philippe Starck decided to pay tribute to the art of Henry Moore with the design of the homonymous armchair. Moor (e) presents softly undulating volumes that recall the landscapes of the English countryside: a continuous line rises and falls, breaks up, but never stops until it creates the profiles of a harmonious seat, where tradition and modernity mix in a perfect union. Thus the capitonné, symbol of the Victorian 800, is combined with a mirrored fiberglass structure elevating Moor (e) to a true “usable sculpture” and thus outlining an evolutionary line for high-end design.
